Attention: Not for intelligent cinema-goers

★ 1/2  out of ★★★★ Red Notice (2021) Runtime: 118 minutes  MPAA: Rated PG-13 for violence and action, some sexual references, and strong language. From here, everything from the start and the purpose to watch it is undone - All build-ups and chemistry between actors are put into the garbage bin. Red Notice is rated PG-13 for - as shown on top -  violence and action, some sexual references, and strong language. I strongly disagree. There are two F-bombs. Various words involving the words 'shit' and 'dick' as part of the word. Bedroom references. Penis jokes. Erection jokes. I definitely think it's not appropriate for anyone under 13 to watch this movie, so please watch out if you're bringing your five and nine-year-old kid to the cinema. Here's the plot: FBI top profiler John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) is on a case to hunt and capture the world's most wanted art thief. He successfully catches the thief, Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds), on a heist to steal one o...

★★ 1/2  out of ★★★★   ( 👍 ) Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) Runtime: 132 minutes  MPAA: Rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, and language. "Shang-Chi (movie) is a Chinese movie made American style," I reminded myself while watching the first Asian superhero movie. It offered a little too much of what I have already seen and I would have appreciated it more if it offered more fresh, new content. The legend begins with Xu Wenwu, who finds the Ten Rings that grants immortality and unspeakable power. Xu Wenwu uses it for money and overtaking kingdoms for thousands of years, and in 1996, he seeks the village of Ta Lo for greater power. The village's guardian, Ying Li, prevents him from entering. Eventually, both of them fall in love and leave each other's associations, and have two children: Shang-Chi and Xialing. However, Ying Li is murdered by the Iron Gang and Wenwu re-possesses the Ten Rings to seek revenge. Shang-Chi...

👎   out of  ★ ★ ★ ★ Paul  Blart:  Mall Cop 2 (2015) Runtime: 94 minutes  MPAA: Rated PG for some violence. Paul Blart gets his hands on the Segway. To say that Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is terrible is a terrible understatement. Let's quickly sum this up. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is painfully unfunny, has unlikeable characters, insulting slapstick, and it totally loses focus of what it's trying to be. It is ridiculed by consumerism (behold, the numerous shots of Wynn hotel) and also suffers from sequel overload. I acknowledged the flaws in Paul Blart: Mall Cop but found it sufficiently entertaining. Mall Cop 2 has totally lost momentum from its predecessor and encompasses the urge for the viewer to leave their seat. I almost decided to leave halfway through but decided to stay in, hence, enjoy my rant. Set six years after the Black Friday save at New Jersey's West Orange Pavilion Mall, Paul Blart (Kevin James) is invited to attend the Security Officers Trade Ass...

chrisblogger8g ★ ★  1/2   out of  ★ ★ ★ ★  ( 👍 ) Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009) Runtime: 91 minutes MPAA: Rated PG for some violence, mild crude and suggestive humor, and language. Paul Blart: Mall Cop would be what I can describe as a guilty pleasure. It's utterly ridiculous and dumb but it does what it's supposed to do, by means entertaining us and successfully functioning as a 'slapstick comedy'. It also has at least a script to hold it together, and the worst moments, which feel punishingly unfunny, only last for several minutes. Paul Blart is by no means a hero. He has been working as a security guard in a New Jersey mall for over 10 years. Back home, he has a daughter and mother to support, and they intend to help him find a partner. Blart has applied to become a cop, but fails not because of his well-built size but because of hypoglycemia - he passes out when his blood sugar is low. On Black Friday, a gang of criminals threaten shoppers to leave t...

★ ★ ★   1/2   out of  ★ ★ ★ ★ Searching (2018) Runtime: 102 minutes  MPAA: Rated PG-13 for thematic content, some drug and sexual references, and for language. David Kim (John Cho) searches and calls every of his daughter's Facebook friends, in hopes for some clues on her whereabouts. Never did I know a movie, based completely on computer screens, video conferences, social media sites, and live broadcasting had such impact on me. Searching was unexpectedly chilling, resonating and wonderful. From first-time director Aneesh Chaganty and writer Sev Ohanian, Searching managed to depict how far a parent would go to protect or search their missing or trapped children (unlike Skyscraper), while exposing to us the harsh realities of the internet and fibsters who make fables to become popular. Searching starts with a family based in San Jose, California. David Kim, Pamela Kim and their daughter Margot Kim create accounts in a computer to upload videos and pictures ...
